Nehemiah 6:9b

“They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, ‘Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.’  But I prayed, ‘Now strengthen my hands.'”  ~ Nehemiah 6:9b  (NIV 1984)

Nehemiah and the Israelites had almost completed building the city walls (everything except the gates).  Their enemies wrote Nehemiah five (5) times to get him into their trap, to weaken him, and to frighten him so that he would not finish the wall around Jerusalem.  He prays to the Lord for strength instead of giving into their threats.

Life Application:                                                                                               When you are doing the Lord’s work, do not give into men who are doing everything in their power to stop you.  Instead cry out to God.

“The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made.  The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.  He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.”  ~ Psalm 145:17-19

“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them–the Lord, who remains faithful forever.  He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.  The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.  The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.”  ~ Psalm 146:5-9
